Chess under the Lantern by calamarain Chess under the Lantern by calamarain
Another Brycey work. This time, playing around with combining various shapes, duplicating, and getting the lighting right for a photograph. It's the standard 3D-renderer's exercise, a chess set. Of course, just a chess set is boring, so I added the reflective border, and the lamps on chains.

Where would we be without 3D chess sets in surreal environments?

Yes, it's a "tutorial" piece, but pretty advanced already . . . I hope you stick with it, I reckon you'll be producing some stunning pieces if you keep at it.

Thanks :) My next project will probably be a series of six - the earth temple is the first, and do five more scenes, one for each of the elements (air, water, fire, light, dark).

Might even use some of the chess piece structures in there - they're nice shapes :)

Might be boring but I bet it was a lot of fun creating it. How long did it take you.

About three hours, all the way through. I prefer an angular style for chess pieces, so it was quicker to create than continuous curves :)

Yes, it was fun making it :)
